families

I didn’t get it. Until I had my first newborn and experienced how his tiny little head rested so peacefully in the crook of my neck. Or until I had dirty little toddlers who played so hard outside all day only to come in and track mud all through the house, filling the tub with the dirtiest water and the loudest giggles. Until I made up elaborate bedtime stories, or played dress up with dance parties, or hunted for the biggest grossest bugs.

I couldn’t fully grasp what it meant to be living in the good old days until I was sat right down in the middle of them. The exhausting and mundane but most magical days of my life I’m certain. And so now that I know I’m right smack dab in the middle of it all I cling to any way I can to preserve it. The way their little chubby toddler fingers look rolling out the dough for cut out cookies. Or the way their little baby hairs perfectly fit into a pony tail now.

these are the good old days

The nostalgia of knowing that this time with them is fleeting. I’m more aware now more than ever that the days are long but the years are oh so short. It’s why I try to capture every little detail of my tiny humans as they are right now and I want to do the same for you and your family. It’s so special to be invited into someone’s bubble. It’s not lost on me how intimate motherhood and raising children is. So if you’re reading this let this be your sign to do the photos. Because tomorrow they’ll be a little bigger.
